A RED-LETTER day was celebrated by Bowden Cricket Club when their junior co-ordinator, Lucy Hobbs, was invited to attend the tenth NatWest OSCAs awards reception at Lord’s.

Along with the 400 other attendees representing every county in the land and clubs large and small, Lucy and clubmate Simon Linsell were entertained by top cricket personalities such as Michael Vaughan, Andrew Strauss, Johnny Bairstow and England women’s captain Charlotte Edwards.

The event was compered by Test Match Special’s Jonathan Agnew.

Lucy had been nominated for the Building Partnerships award by Leicestershire, primarily for work in growing the women’s and girls’ section for Bowden CC and also for her efforts in the Chance to Shine programme.

Lucy said: “The best part of the day was meeting like-minded volunteers from all over England who give up their time willingly to help youth teams and for the general good of their clubs.”

She added: “By the end of our day at Lord’s we all felt very well thanked indeed.”

Meanwhile, winners in Bowden CC’s junior groups were presented with their trophies recently.

Award-winners were:

Under 10s Kwik Cricket - Batting award Tom Iliffe; Bowling award Elliot Mitchell; Most improved player Sam Stephenson; Player of the year Harry Wilford.
