EUROPEAN Seniors Tour professional Bob Larratt (Kibworth) shone with 2-under-par-71 on a dull day at Park Hill to tie top when the county Alliance winter season resumed.

He shared the slot with Craig Shave (Whetstone) and Darren Jones (The Leicestershire).

Adam Brown (Scraptoft) and Tom Hammond, of the host club, both shot 72 to share fourth place.

Hammond and Matt Syer amassed 43 points to finish first in the better-ball Stableford, with a tie on 42 points.

Shave and Keith Akiens (Cosby) were runners-up on Alliance rule from Nick Prentice (Park Hill) and John Hollis, third.

Kibworth GC members Barry Gisborne and Terry Vasey, with 41 points, finished in fourth position.

Marcus Speisser (Beedles Lake) and John Payne, with 40 points, took the pro/am section prize, and the am/am winners, also with 40 points, were from Kilworth Springs GC - Raj Meherban and Mark Lambert.

l Members of Market Harborough GC’s senior section have competed in the second round of their winter eclectic competition.

Lindsey Holliman with 63 net emerged the winner by a clear margin of five shots.

There was a tie on 68 net, with John Lord second on local rule from John Halden.

A total of five rounds will be played, weather permitting, before this tournament is resolved.

l PGA professional Adrian Clifford of Big Red Golf Schools is holding a coaching day at Stoke Albany GC tomorrow (Friday) with a similar session a few days later at Rushden GC.

They are both from 10am to 3pm with just six places available. Sessions will concentrate on the full swing, chipping, bunker play and putting, and include a light lunch.

l Leicestershire PGA has completed the opening half of the 2007/8 winter series of pro/am tournaments. Three events have been played so far, with another three fixed for the coming months.

Current Order of Merit leader is Craig Shave (Whetstone), a former Lutterworth GC assistant.

Shave has notched 39 points so far, with tour pro Matthew Cort, who lives in the town, on 24 points, second.

Gary Coysh (Cosby), also a former Lutterworth assistant, and Rick Adams (Discovery Golf) are tied third with 14 points each.

Cort was runner-up in the second pro/am of the series. This was in the low scoring event at Glen Gorse. He shot 6-under-par-66, but winner there, Warwick Stevens (Bramcote), carded a remarkable 10-under-62 to win.

In round three at Beedles Lake GC, Cort shot 1-under-69 to be third.

The first pro/am of the second half was due to be played this week at Park Hill, weather permitting, with one at Kilworth Springs in February, and the climax is at Scraptoft GC in March.
