A missed opportunity for Town who fail to convert their chances
Harborough Town dropped into the bottom two of the UCL Premier Division after being held to a 1-1 draw by Yaxley.
Wellingborough Town’s 3-0 defeat of Sleaford pushed them out of the relegation places but Harborough, who are level on points, have a game in hand.
Scott Carter put the visitors ahead in the fourth minute but the hosts were back on level terms five minutes later when Taras Petranyuk turned in Rob Barnett’s cross from close range.
Harborough had the better of the second period but couldn’t turn their dominance into goals and were left frustrated as they had to settle for a point.
Next up for Chris Church’s side is the visit to Boston Town this weekend.
Harborough Town Reserves produced a poor effort as they were beaten 3-1 at Huntingdon.
Coming on the back of an impressive Supplementary Cup 5-2 victory over S&L Corby in midweek, Harborough opened the scoring through Gary Owen but that was their only reward as the hosts protected their lead to deservedly take the spoils. Harborough face title favourites Cogenhoe United this weekend.
Desborough Town have a tricky afternoon in store as they make the short journey to Occupation Road to face S&L Corby.
S&L are currently just six points above the relegation places but picked up an excellent 2-1 victory at Deeping last weekend.
And manager Steve Walker is expecting a hard-fought encounter.
He said: “It’ll be a heavy pitch so I’m certain it’s going to be a battle as games over there always are.
“We beat them 1-0 over there in the NFA Senior Cup earlier in the season and it wasn’t a great game but we haven’t played that much in recent weeks so we just want to get a game in.”
Walker has boosted his forward line with the signing of George Himan from Thurnby Nirvan and he goes straight into the squad for the weekend’s game.
