LEWIS BURGESS of Kibworth High School was one of only eight people from the East Midlands to qualify for the national finals.
The youngster's top trampoline result came at under-13 level at the Zonal Schools competition in Nottingham.
The student was lying fifth after an impressive first round but his second routine was even better, elevating him to a final position of third.
Competitors were representing schools from Wales, the Midlands and East regions and only the top few competitors from each qualified.
Burgess will now contest the National Schools Finals at Bristol in March.
