The Irish saloon series, which is the equivalent to the British Touring Car Championship, became known as the Dunlop Supercars in 2003 and are the most popular racing cars on the Irish Motorsport scene.

The Dunlop Saloons are purpose-built space frame chassis, fibreglass bodies and are powered by a 230hp Ford Zetec based engine – making the racing series one of the most competitive and exciting to watch.

The race meeting at the Northamptonshire circuit will also feature round five of the 2008 Pickup Truck Championship along with eight different championship racing series to provide a bumper programme to keep the family entertained.

Also on the bill will be the Mighty and Super Mighty Minis, there will be action from the LMA Euro Saloon and Sports Cars, Alfashop Alfa Romeos, T-cars, Motorlawyers Fiat Racing Challenge and Max 5 Racing.

There will be plenty of opportunity to get close to the action as general admission includes access to an open paddock and a grandstand seats for everyone, while children aged 15 and under get in for free.

Team Rockingham will also be in action at this meeting when the Pickup Truck Championship returns to the oval for round five of the ten-meeting racing series.

Antony Hawkins in his No 98 special Rockingham liveried has slipped into tenth place overall on 1,013 points after a disappointing trip to Mondello Park for round four of the championship.

Team Rockingham finished a respectable 11th in the first race despite gearbox problems, before an engine failure with just three laps of race two to go brought an abrupt end to their racing action.

Hawkins said: “We are looking forward to coming back to Rockingham for round five of the championship. All we need is a couple of good results to help us pick up some valuable points and start challenging the pack.”
