TALENTED Kibworth GC member Kym Larratt, whose father Bob is a European Senior Tour professional, has gained her own full playing privileges on the Ladies' European Tour for the new season.
Kym is the reigning Kibworth club champion and a former county champion. She has also represented England.
Kym qualified for her tour card after successfully completing seven rounds of highly competitive golf in international fields at La Manga, S
pain.
First, in the 54-holes stage one qualifier she ended on 221 after her 71-72-78 rounds. This saw her comfortably into the Final QS shortly afterwards over 72 holes. She shot 73-71-78-71 for her 293 aggregate then.
At this point the top 30 golfers from the original entry claimed their full cards for the 2010 campaign.
Her father caddied for her throughout the two tournaments.
He said afterwards:"Kym has always wanted to become a tour playing professional.
"At La Manga, she played very well indeed in a very tough situation and in testing conditions. I am very proud of her and know she will continue to work and practise hard in the next phase of her golfing career."
Kym (22) said: "In Spain we experienced all the seasons, even snow, which added to all the drama really.
"It was only the second time I have entered tour school, but it did mean my experience of 12 months earlier proved invaluable.
"On the last day I had to complete seven holes of my round three, before going on to a shotgun start for the crucial final 18-holes.
"In my bid for the 2009 tour when I played previously, I did not make the cut for the last round of the FQS, so I am absolutely delighted to have achieved my target on this occasion. My dad's help was invaluable, as he has been in similar situations himself."
She added: "Some of the early 2010 championships are co-sanctioned events in Australia, and I am waiting to hear exactly when I can start my tour season, and I expect to receive full information soon."
l Jake Amos (Kilworth Springs), a leading county amateur golfer, competed in the first qualifying stage of the Asian Tour in Thailand, but despite a strong performance, just missed out on going into the Final QS early this month.
Amos returned from America, where he is a student at Augusta State University, to spend time with his coach - Anders Mankert, the Kilworth Springs club professional - in preparation for his test in Thailand, where he played over 72 holes in Bangkok.
He carded a 288 total after his 70-74-69-75 returns. He was tied ninth after his 2-under-69 in round 3, but two pulled 7-iron shots after the turn in his final session, saw him slip back.
