MARKET Harborough lost ground in the chase for county league honours when they went down at home to fellow premier division high-fliers Loughborough Town.
Harborough were put in to bat and opener Neil Pullen hit a quick 41 to put 50 on the board for the first wicket.

Kevin Innes (57) had stands of 46 with Neal Mackey (18) and Joe Gordon (47), with Chris Gordon (16) and Nic O’Donovan (11) adding further runs enabling the home side to reach 220 for 8 in their 50 overs.

Vivek Parikh took 2 for 48 for Loughborough.

The start of the second innings was delayed due to rain and five overs were lost.

Loughborough were given a superb start when they replied as openers James Bull (64) and James Taylor (41) put on 91 for the first wicket.

Mitchell Buck saw them home to victory with 48 not out, with the target of 222 for 4 being reached in 40.3 overs.

Skipper Chris Griffiths (2 for 34) was the top bowler for Harborough after the weather conditions in the second innings made life difficult for everyone.

Harborough are at home to Earl Shilton in the Everards County League this Saturday and travel to play neighbours Lutterworth in the quarter-finals of the county cup on Sunday.
