KIBWORTH hung on to top spot in the Market Harborough and District Evening League table after overcoming visitors Husbands Bosworth by six runs.
The home side batted first and made 127 for 4, with skipper Dan Pedley leading the way with 61.
Bosworth’s reply got off to a cracking start, with Gary Waterfield (21) and Kev Woodhead (42) hitting 45 off the first three overs. However, the Kibwo
rth bowling gradually took a grip of the game and, despite a gallant 42 from Adam Charlton, he was unable to hit the 12 required from the last over as the visitors finished on 120 for 3 and seven runs short.
Stoughton and Thurnby and Langtons played out a thrilling finish at Thurnby.
John Lawrence hit 97 for the visitors, before being dismissed in the final over, as Langtons posted a challenging 153 for 3. Stoughton’s reply was based around 54 from Paul Wagstaff. But Langtons kept taking wickets.
With one over remaining, Stoughton required 13 with their last pair at the wicket. A wide and two edged fours left three needed from the last ball. A wide was bowled down the legside that keeper Andy Phillips could only parry. The batsmen ran one and turned for a second and winning run. However, Phillips recovered and his direct throw produced a run-out and a tied game.
Billesdon struggled to 100 for 7 at Medbourne, where Tom Driver took 2 for 13 and Lewis Dyke 2 for 15. The visitors made a good fight of it though and Medbourne had Kimishin Chetty (27) to thank as they got home in the last over after losing seven wickets.
Clipston stay close on the heals of Kibworth after overcoming strugglers Nevill Holt. Gumley won at home to Bowden.
