FOR THE second year running Market Harborough Cricket Club are celebrating having been adjudged as having the best pitch and outfield in the league.
Head groundsman at Fairfield Road, Chris Weir said he was delighted with the news.

He said the award recognised his entire team of ground staff, also including Richard Berry, John Gilbert and David Flude - "without whom it wouldn't have been possible".

Players across the region report enjoying playing cricket on the quality wicket at Harborough and Weir hopes that by having such high standards the Everards Leicestershire County League club can attract new players.

He added: "Market Harborough has undergone huge changes both on and off the field and this recognition from the league marks the move to attract more high-profile matches at Fairfield Road.

"Indeed, club captain and former Northamptonshire and Sussex all-rounder Kevin Innes is keen to see Northamptonshire County Cricket Club take advantage of the high quality ground at Market Harborough in the future."
