Harborough Museum and library opened to the public on Tuesday, but this slideshow shows pictures taken by Mail photographer Andrew Carpenter before the opening.
The newly integrated museum and library and adult learning and registration service is now sited on the first floor of The Symington Building, which has undergone a £5.75million transformation.
The re-development of the first floor started in February 2013 and the work has included a painstaking re-installation of the museum’s collections including the Hallaton Treasure and a temporary space to attract national touring exhibitions.
The funding for the new museum, library and adult learning space has come from the county and the district councils, as well as a generous contribution from the Market Harborough and Bowdens charity.
