Second armed robbery in Market Harborough

A second armed robbery in less than two days has taken place in Market Harborough.

A masked man threated staff at GT News / Post Office shop in St Mary’s Place with a knife on Thursday (Feb 9) - and police have now confirmed that a robber threatened a shop worker at Poundstretcher, off Springfield Street, at about 5.30pm the following day (Friday Feb 10).

On both occasions, the robber fled empty-handed.

As we previously reported, the attempted robbery on Thursday happened between 8.50am and 9am, when the man, wearing a scarf across his face and a hood, so that only his eyes showed, walked into the shop and demanded money from staff at the GT News counter.

The staff stayed calm and did not hand over any money, and the man panicked and ran off.

Police said no one was hurt in the Poundstretcher incident.

Anyone with information about either attempted robbery is asked to contact the police on 101.
