Royal Marine’s mum tops £1,200 with charity run
THE MUM of a Royal Marine who is serving in Afghanistan has raised an impressive amount for the Help for Heroes soldiers’ charity.
Amanda Allen, of Marston Trussell, completed the Lake Vyrnwy half-marathon on September 9.
She said: “I did it in under three hours which I was amazed at. To put the icing on the cake, I have raised more than £1,250 so far. I had the most wonderful support from everyone especially all my family. Tom sent a message of support from Camp Bastion along with messages from many of his comrades.
“Everyone at my work [Welcomm Communications] has been great. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done but one of the most wonderful. When I saw the finish line looming and realised I would not only finish but do it in under three hours. I burst into tears when I crossed the line.”
There is still time for people to sponsor Mrs Allen at www.justgiving.com/amanda-allen2.
