A ROCK guitarist from the Harborough district is hoping his band will hit the big time on both sides of the Atlantic as they prepare to release their first album.

Sid Glover (24), of Stoke Albany, has already toured the US and Europe with his hard rock band Heaven’s Basement, playing alongside the likes of Papa Roach.

And next month will see the release of their debut album Filthy Empire ahead of a UK tour which will see them play 11 cities in just a fortnight.

Sid, the lead guitarist, is an original member of the band.

Speaking to the Mail from Canada, he said: “I started out with Chris Rivers, the drummer, in 2008, and the current line-up have been together for about a year-and-a-half now.”

Born in Kettering, Sid went to school at Montsaye Academy in Rothwell, earning his stripes, as all bands must, by playing pubs and clubs near his home town.

He said: “The first gig we ever played was at Sawyers in Kettering.

“When we started out we played lots of venues in the area – jam nights in Rothwell, blues clubs in Corby, that sort of thing.”

They have come a long way since then, coming to the end of a mammoth tour of North America supporting Buckcherry, during which they developed a reputation for high-octane live shows.

But despite the jet-setting, Sid said they still consider the Harborough patch their home.

“We’re kind of from all over the place, so Stoke Albany is a great central place to meet up.

“We’ll often come back and stay at my house for a few days, and use some rehearsal space in Corby.”

For their new album, with Red Bull Records, the band has worked with LA-based producer John Feldman, whose CV includes work with Good Charlotte. For tour dates and more details, visit the website
