County highways officials have given Severn Trent Water the go ahead to close Brook Lane in Billesdon to allow for emergency flood prevention work.
The water company applied for the road closure to make improvements to the combined sewer in Church Street and put new combined sewers in West Lane and Muddy Lane.
The closure is from the junction with Market Road and the junction with Rolleston Road.
Following the closure of Church Street, there has been an increase in traffic using Brook Lane, particularly during the morning and evening commute. A physical barrier is in place at one end of Brook Lane to ensure the closure is adhered to by all motorists, including residents of Billesdon.
Access for residents only is being maintained from the Market Street end. During the closure, an alternative route for drivers will be signposted.
Meanwhile, Rockingham Road in Harborough will be closed from 11pm on Monday, February 24, until 6.30am on Tuesday, February 25, for Network Rail to carry out urgent repairs to the railway bridge.
