A new business has been set-up to help apartment owners run their businesses more effectively.

Sexton Property Management based at 1 Millers Yard in Harborough is specialising in the maintenance and administration of apartment blocks in the Harborough district.

Managing director Tom Sexton decided to set up the firm to build on the success he had managing the 24 luxury apartments at Blackfriars Place, off Roman Way in Harborough.

He said Blackfriars residents currently pay the lowest level of service charges in the Harborough area, and not at any point have they had their charges increased.

He said they also receive a top-level standard of property maintenance.

Mr Sexton said: “If you are paying high service charges and are unhappy with the level of service, I might be able to help you.

“By forming a ‘Right to Manage’ company and combining this with our business administration service, you can remain in control, while we take care of the day-to-day management and administration of your buildings.”

He added: “Focusing purely within the Harborough area has allowed us to build up an excellent network of local suppliers who we oversee to carry out routine and ad-hoc maintenance work.”

Pat Hooley, the previous chairman of the Blackfriars management company, said: “We chose to set up our own ‘Right to Manage’ company some five years ago.

“Tom joined our company, and through this partnership we have totally transformed the services we receive.

“Not only do we now have complete satisfaction as far as our regular maintenance work goes, but we have also built up an essential reserve fund to safeguard us against future expenditure.

“We are extremely pleased with Tom’s work and would not hesitate in recommending his services to other apartment blocks.”

Blackfriars Place won a construction award in 2008 after being nominated by Harborough District Council.

It scooped the East Midlands Regional Local Authority Building Control award for Best Housing Development.

The three-storey, 24-apartment scheme was built by Darian Homes.

Another of Tom’s firms, Sexton Recruitment, was a finalist in the Mail’s Business Accelerators competition last year. He was also a participant in the Spark Harborough business competition.
