My favourite season is autumn. I think it stems from the start of school and the fact I’ll will be starting a new term on my MA in fine art at Northampton University.
I don’t really know Northampton except it is the same commute as De Montfort uni where I did my fine art degree.
There is that excitement of getting to know a new place, a new institution and all its idiosyncrasies.
And there is the shopping!
Buying notebooks, art equipment, even some cheap clothes (studios are very messy places).
Since I’ve been in Leicestershire (22 years) I’ve always lived in or looked to Leicester; now I am turning my gaze back south.
Parts of Northampton remind me of my home town of Watford (the crimes of 1960s town planning). I don’t think I would ever move back there – apart from being happy here, I don’t think I could take the pace again!
The campus is rather nice and opposite a park and away from the forever ring-road that, let’s face it, blight all places of size.
Fingers crossed for a great new start, new term and new venture.
