VOTES are needed now to guarantee the town takes the title of Meerkat Harborough to twin with the mythical Russian town of Meerkovo for the day.

After weeks of voting Harborough has been selected as one of five towns in with a chance of twinning with the town of Meerkovo - home to the meerkats from the Compare the Market TV adverts.

Click Vote Here underneath the EXTERNAL LINK heading on the right to vote and help Harborough to win the bid.

Compare the Market launched a massive publicity campaign last month to find a town to twin with Meerkovo, the mythical home of Aleksandr the meerkat.

The cheeky creature is the head of comparison website Compare the Market’s, “Compare the Meerkat” advertising campaign.

Thousands have got behind the town’s bid to become twinned with the mythical town.

There have been Facebook groups formed, films made and various businesses have also pledged their support.

The other towns in the running are Windemeer, Meerkat Drayton, Western Super Meer and Downham Meerkat.
