The deadline for this year’s Pride in Harborough Awards to thank the many selfless people in the district for the tremendous work they do in the community has been extended by a week.
With the support of local businesses, we will be holding a gala presentation evening in April where the award winners will be announced.
The Mail is again grateful to receive the support of Market Harborough Building Society, who are the main awards sponsors.
The deadline has now been extended until Friday, March 27, at 5pm, to allow people more time to get their nominations in.
There are 11 categories in which to nominate people.
They are Young Achiever, Raising the Profile of the Town, Inspire a Generation, Fundraiser of the Year, Service with a Smile, Excellence in Education, Friendly Neighbour, Care in the Community, Outstanding Example of Bravery, Unsung Hero/Heroine and the Community Investment Award.
Most of the awards have already attracted a sponsor but there are still a few sponsorship packages available.
The Mail’s deputy editor Alex Blackwell, who hosted the awards night in 2014, said: “The awards are aimed at recognising and celebrating the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups who we know work so hard to make the Harborough district a special place to live and work.
“We now need you – our readers – to put your thinking caps on and put forward those unsung heroes who do so much good work in our community.
“Last year’s awards night was a great occasion and we’re hoping for much the same this time around.”
Among the big winners last year were Great Bowden racing driver Cameron Twynham, the Dementia Cafe, Paws 4 Walking, Robert Smyth Academy, the town’s sea cadets and youngster Madison Brooks who was awarded the headline Choice Award, sponsored by Market Harborough Building Society, and the Young Achiever of the Year award.
A panel of judges will select the winners, who will all receive their awards at a presentation evening at The Three Swans Hotel in Market Harborough on Thursday, April 16.
The awards night includes a three-course dinner.
