Firefighters were called out to deal with the incident in the district last night

Firefighters from Kibworth were called to the skatepark in the village last night (Thursday) after troublemakers set fire to a scooter.

A fire crew from the village was called to the site, off Warwick Road, at about 9.10pm last night.

Firefighters used a scotty backpack to put out the flames, according to the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service daily report log.

The scooter had 25 per cent damage, said the log, and the cause of the fire was ‘deliberate ignition’.

The skatepark has been the site of vandalism recently and arsonists have started numerous small fires at the skatepark in the past few years.
