Harborough district has another X Factor star to cheer for after student Justin Peng surprised judges and an audience of 4,000 with his singing talent.
And there was romance in the air as the sixth former declared his love for judge Nicole Scherzinger before presenting her with gifts. Justin, who studies at Leicester Grammar School in Great Glen, appeared on Saturday night’s screening of auditions at the ICC in Birmingham.
Telling the judges Nicole, Gary Barlow, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh that he was not Justin Bieber, nor Justin Timberlake, but Justin Peng, he then presented a rose to Nicole.
His rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Look To You’ was enough to get him through to a live audition at Wembley Arena.
His second peformance - in front of 4,000 fans at Wembley Arena - did not make the cut of ITV’s Sunday show, instead being screened on the X Factor’s companion show the Xtra Factor on ITV2.
After presenting Nicole with another gift - this time a scarf from his native China - Justin sang Ain’t No Sunshine to cheers from the crowd.
Gary told Justin his voice was too theatrical and gave him a no. But the other judges gave him the nod and he will now appear on next Saturday’s Boot Camp show.
Watch Justin on last night’s Xtra Factor He appears about 13 minutes in.
The district already has one X Factor hopeful to cheer for.
Gartree Prison officer Sam Bailey is also through to Boot Camp after wowing judges a few weeks ago.
