Wooden chalet-style market stalls have been put up in The Square for traders to use while the indoor market in Northampton Road is being refurbished.

Stall holders will trade from the temporary stalls in the new year during refurbishment to the Market Hall building.

The market will be held in The Square on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from January 3 to April 5 while the work is completed.

Harborough District Council agreed the move at a planning meeting earlier this month.

The hall is being redeveloped in a £480,000 scheme which the council says will create a vibrant and successful market.

It will have an improved layout including a food hall, public toilets accessible from inside the venue, improved lighting, better entrances and better signage.
