Unemployment in the Harborough area is down, according to the latest figures.
Across the parliamentary constituency, which includes Oadby and Wigston, the number of jobless went down by almost 300 to 988 in November.
That is two per cent of those eligible for work.
The area has the 528th highest level of unemployment out of 650 constituencies.
MP Sir Edward Garnier said: “Even though for everyone of the 988 people out of work their being out of work is a tragedy the overall economic picture is clearly, if slowly, improving.
“The number of claimants for this November is 298 lower than in November last year and 43 lower than in October 2013.
“This shows that we are doing well in tough times and are continuing to prosper despite the odds. I hope to see more evidence of improvement when the new statistics are released in January.”
