Stars from a TV antiques show are in Harborough for a special antiques, gold and silver valuation event.
Karen Dalmeny, Tim Hogarth and Simon Schneider will be at The Angel Hotel, in 37 High Street, today (Friday, November 1) and tomorrow (Saturday November 2) from 10am to 5pm each day.
With almost 100 hundred years of experience buying and selling antiques, gold and silver between them, Karen, Tim and Simon joined forces in 2012 to offer the public an opportunity to sell their heirlooms direct.
Karen said: “All three of us receive so many enquiries asking us to value and buy their antiques, gold and silver that we decided to set up a series of venues and offer the public an opportunity to meet us and sell their heirlooms.
“We’ve had a fantastic response and this will be the first time we have come to Harborough so we’re hoping people here will search their cupboards and bring along their antiques and forgotten treasures.”
Simon said: “As there are three of us we are able to ensure no one has to wait long and we guarantee no queues. Everyone is welcome to bring along as many items as they want, no appointments are necessary and if they have something too large or if they are unable to come along during the day we are happy to arrange a home visit, just contact us to make an appointment.”
Tim added: ”It’s great fun doing the venues with Simon and Karen, although we’re rivals on television we get on really well and as each of us has our own specialities we are able to cover all aspects of the antiques business. This means we can ensure we are able to offer the very best advice and prices for those items we want to buy.”
Karen is a traditional antiques dealer and has clients across the world waiting to purchase anything from a Meissen figure to a full dining room suite. She has an impressive understanding of today’s antiques market and current prices.
She said “I’m hoping we’ll unearth some antique bronzes as the market is currently very strong and they can be surprisingly valuable. I’d also like to see some fine porcelain, especially Royal Worcester.”
Simon is very well known and respected for his knowledge of 20th Century Decorative Arts. He specialises in Art Nouveau and Art Deco but also deals extensively in Silver as well as Oriental antiques.
Simon said: “The market for Chinese and Oriental antiques is particularly strong at the moment so this is a good time to realise their value. I also hope we’ll be able to buy some quality antique silver items as the market for gold and silver remains very strong and I’m sure we’ll be able to tempt the public with our prices!”
Tim specialises in gold, silver and antique jewellery. He is an experienced dealer and an expert in valuing diamonds and precious stones. He also has an extensive knowledge of coins, medals and wrist watches.
Tim said: “I’m hoping we’ll find some lovely antique jewellery and I’m keen to buy whatever the condition. I’d also be pleased to purchase vintage wrist watches, especially Rolex, Cartier and Patek Phillipe. We’ll be offering top cash prices to anyone who wants a deal and I’m sure we’ll discover some interesting and valuable items.”
The dealers are particularly looking for:
Gold jewellery and pocket and wrist watches in any condition
Silver tea sets, trays, caddies, trophies and anything decorative
Oriental ceramics and lacquer work
Bronzes and ivories
Royal Worcester, Clarice Clliff and Moorcroft
Art Nouveau and Art Deco including Lalique and Galle Glass
