A shopping tour of the world without leaving Harborough – that’s the offer for local shoppers later this month.
A selection of traders from all over the globe will be setting up shop on The Square in Harborough soon for a four-day market.
Countries represented include Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Morocco, Peru, South Africa, Spain and Thailand.
The event will run from Thursday, August 28, until Sunday, August 31.
It is being organised by Market Place Europe, the firm which has recently secured the contract to run the town’s indoor market as well as the historic market square for the next three years.
The council’s executive agreed on July 21 that the company was its preferred bidder.
Among the firms attending will be Tentazioni UK, offering traditional Italian biscotti, cakes and soft nougat.
The Cheese Board will be bringing along a selection of global cheeses, offering a slice of a number of countries whilst shoppers can also try some bratwurst sausages from a traditional German schwenkgrill.
Bella Paella will be bringing their Spanish paella to the town, cooked to a traditional family recipe from Cordoba.
G and G Global Gift Collections will be selling a selection of hand-crafted wood carvings and wooden furniture in many shapes and sizes including animalistic figurines.
Native Handicraft will set up a stall selling Native American handicrafts, hand-made cardigans, dream catchers and traditional musical instruments.
Staffordshire Garden Furniture will be selling wooden furniture.
There will also be a selection of authentic Italian silk scarves and ties for sale.
Market Place Europe’s operations manager Chris Hulley said: “Our traders shall be presenting Harborough with a great experience and an exciting selection of flavours from all across the globe offering something for everyone.
“There’s nowhere else you’d find all these things together.
“It’s definitely the place to be this August.”
The market is open from 9am to 6pm from Thursday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
