A Desborough store made a furry donation to a new scheme which sees newly adopted children given a teddy bear.

Midlands Co-operative Society has provided 100 teddy bears to the scheme run by the Northamptonshire Family Panel.

Jonathan Bird, manager of the Co-operative’s Desborough food store, visited to Northampton Magistrates Court to present the bears to Hazel Bland, chairman of Northamptonshire Combined Family Panel.

Mr Bird said: “We were delighted to be able to offer our support to such a worthwhile cause. It is very heart warming to know that children starting this new and exciting journey will still have a furry friend to take along.”

Mrs Bland said: “Giving a child a teddy bear with which to start their new family life might seem like a small gesture but these bears will symbolise so much for these children.”
