‘A SCHOOL may not sound like the perfect place for a party but new catering facilities mean Robert Smyth is now fully equipped for such events.

The academy launched its new high-tech catering facility, the Sixteen07 last Tuesday.

There are many rooms available for hire. As well as the dining facilities, people can hire meeting rooms, classrooms, sports halls and even a training kitchen.

The meeting room at the academy has a projector and screen and can seat up to 30 people.

Although Sixteen07 can seat up to 120 people for a sit down meal, it can also be used for presentation evenings and seminars.

As it opens on to the playing fields behind the academy it is ideal for children’s birthday parties.

The academy is also now providing catering for events.

Whether people are after a three-course meal, a lunch or a buffet, the academy can cater for their needs and there is even a soul and jazz band available to hire.

Sarah Blackler, events co-ordinator at the academy, said: “The opportunities available here are too many to mention, but something that many people my not have considered up until now.

“All I can say is, if you have an event or business meeting coming up and are looking for a venue then we are definitely worth considering.”

The academy has launched a section on its website which highlights the rooms and menus available and brochure packs can also be sent on request by emailing eventshire@rsacademy.co.uk and people can discuss catering options with catering manager Emma Spencer.

Headteacher Colin Dean said: “Recently we have received more and more requests to use our facilities from a whole range of people and organisations in the local community.

“Up until now, our lettings have focused mainly on the sports hall, sports fields and dance studio, however, we are now in pocession of a facility that can cater for a different set of requirements, our catering venue Sixteen07.

“This is ideally suited to hosting groups of all age groups for social or commercial functions, with or without catering – and while there is, of course, a charge for use, we are able to offer it at a very competitive rate.

“This has to be good for the community and for the academy.”
