A Chinese restaurant in Harborough cooked up a storm for a good cause.

As part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, Han Chinese Cuisine of St Mary’s Road held a charity raffle in aid of the Diani children’s village in Kenya, an orphanage supported by Harborough couple Ian and Sue Milne since 2006.

It was the third year running the restaurant has helped the charity and this time Philip Tsui and his staff raised a record £999.99 – a lucky Chinese number.

Sue said: “To put that into perspective, the home looks after about 20 children and this money will feed, clothe, house and educate all of them for at least six months.”
