A supplier of car parts is celebrating 90 years of being in business by attempting to raise £90,000 for a charity that grants wishes for sick children.
Parkers, ‘the parts people’, which has premises in Harborough, is aiming to raise the funds for the When You Wish Upon A Star charity by asking customers and garages in the area to donate unwanted brake discs to them.
For every brake disc Parkers can collect, a total of £1.50 will be raised for the charity. Already several car dealerships in the town have signed up to the charitable initiative.
The strap line of the campaign to raise £90,000 for the charity is, ‘give a child a break’.
It is hoped that the funds will allow for 100 sick children to go to Lapland to visit Father Christmas.
Robin Parker, managing director of Parkers, said: ““We believe that this is a great story celebrating both our 90th year in business and the fact that with the support of local businesses we can all pull together to collectively achieve something great for local children that suffer life threatening sicknesses.”
