A lucky couple are looking forward to the wedding of their dreams thanks to a country pub in Harrington.
Stephen Rickett (25) and Helen Shaw (23) have been able to move their marriage plans forward by two years after winning a wedding worth £4,500 in a competition organised by The Tollemache Arms in the village.
Helen said: “We are a young family with two children, so until we won this amazing prize we could only dream of a big wedding. We were going to have to save up for another couple of years, but this means we can now have the wedding sooner.”
The pub has recently diversified into weddings to make the most of its scenic position.
It ran the competition at a wedding fair at Wicksteed Park last month.
The Wellingborough couple will tie the knot in their home town before moving onto the pub where they will have a free wedding reception, with a three-course meal for up to 40 guests in the restaurant.
Stephen said: “This venue is just what we wanted.
“The views are spectacular. Everybody gets married in the same places in Wellingborough, so to be able to come here will be special.”
The prize also includes an evening buffet for up to 130 guests in the pub’s fully-furnished marquee complete with a disco.
Landlord Mark Owen said: “We’re a traditional English pub set in a beautiful rural location.
“But, as with many pubs, we’ve had to adapt to survive.
“We’ve been staging successful weddings for two years but after refining our offer, we’re now looking to expand this side of our business.
“This competition celebrates a new chapter in the life of The Tollemache Arms.”
