A Harborough woman completed the Silverstone half-marathon on Sunday to boost funds for the Alzheimer’s Research UK charity in memory of her mum.
Lesley Hartshorne completed the 13.1-mile race around the iconic Silverstone motor racing circuit in memory of her mum, Edith Sheward.
Mrs Sheward, from Hinckley, died aged 82 in 2006 after a 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Lesley completed the event in 2hrs 8 mins which was the sixth fastest in her age group.
She has raised more than £1,000 so far.
To help boost the total, the property management company director asked friends and family to sponsor her instead of buying gifts for her recent 60th birthday.
The keen singer and member of Lutterworth Rock Choir also sang with family and friends at her birthday bash to tempt people into donating more.
