Time is running out for people to have their say over the controversial proposal for a new Tesco store in Harborough.
The deadline for people to comment on the planning application is this Monday, January 20.
Tesco wants to build a new store similar in size to the town’s Sainsbury’s on the former Focus site in Rockingham Road, which it says will create 200 jobs.
Many opinions have already been voiced to Harborough Council, whose planning committee will vote on the plan.
As of last week, 77 comments has been made, with 45 people against the plan and 10 in support.
The remainder have stayed neutral.
More than a dozen independent traders have commented, all in opposition.
Local authorities, highways experts, trade and civic groups and rival stores have all waded into the debate.
Tesco’s application contains hundreds of pages among 25 documents and can be viewed online at the council’s website using the reference code 13/01619/FUL.
Council planning officers are still in the process of assessing the submissions and consultation documents, and a date for when it will be brought before the committee is still to be set.
