A team of students from Harborough’s Robert Smyth Academy will compete in the national finals of a maths competition after winning their regional heat.
Students Dominik Henjes, Stefan Rieche, Alex Ball and Liam Hughes (pictured right) beat off competition from the prestigious Hills Road Sixth Form College and the independent Perse School in the regional final of the Senior Team Mathematics Challenge.
Now they will go on to compete against other top teams from across the country in the final in London on February 4.
It is the second year running a team from the academy has achieved the feat.
Their lead tutor Howard Fay said: “We attracted some new students to the academy as a result of last year’s result – I imagine this win will attract even more!”
