Hero David is champ of champions

HARBOROUGH'S Gladiators champ David Staff is on a roll.

A week after scooping the 25,000 Gladiators title for 2009, the dad-of-two last night topped it off by claiing the Champion-of-Champions crown.

Aired on Sky One, Mr Staff (29) was pitched against the winner from the last Gladiators series, Simon Wray.

The win netted 5,000 for a charity of Mr Staff's choice - Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough.

He was one of 10,000 applicants who vied to be in the knock-out competition which sees contestants face a series of obstacle course-style events and an onslaught of muscular 'gladiators'.

Mr Staff, who used to play football for Harborough Town FC and now plays for Rugby Town, is a sports coach for Kettering Borough Council and Moulton College

He lives in Jerwood Way, Little Bowden, with his partner Charlotte Cousins and their children Bethany (3) and Harrison (1).
