A fundraiser in memory of a Harborough woman who died after battling breast cancer is being held in the town this Saturday.

The event at Harborough Rugby Club in Northampton Road at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 7, will feature a raffle and music from singer Eleanor Boxall and town band Jonny’s At One as well as DJ Dan Pelos.

It is being held to raise money for breast cancer charity Coppafeel and Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Nicky Woodbridge, who died in January 2010.

Her daughter Emily Woodbridge, who is organising the event, said: “Mum passed away after battling cancer for a second time. She was an incredibly brave and inspirational lady who never failed to have a smile on her face and had a hugely positive attitude even in the worst of times.

“The first time she beat cancer we ran the Race for Life together to raise as much money as we could and to celebrate her recovery as she was a keen sports woman. She played rounders for Arthingworth Rounders team, who now have a pink first post in memory of where she used to field.

“Since she passed away I have raised £843 by continuing to run the Race For Life in her memory. I then decided I wanted to raise more more money so I organised this event.

“I really hope that people get involved and help to raise as much money as possible so we can save lives.”

Tickets priced £5 are on sale at Wainwrights hair salon in Harborough.
