The weekly Market Harborough antiques market takes place at Welland Park Academy Assembly Rooms, after a temporary move from the Market Hall which is undergoing refurbishment.

Harborough’s antiques market was held at its new temporary venue at Welland Park Academy for the first time on Sunday.

The market is normally held at the district council-owned Market Hall in Northampton Road each Sunday but is being re-housed while a £480,000 revamp is carried out.

The Sunday antiques market is now running at the Assembly Rooms at the school, in Welland Park Road, Market Harborough, from 10am to 4pm each Sunday until April.

The refurbishment of the hall will give it a new layout, entrances, toilets and lighting and see seven-day opening.

Stallholders from regular market days have been moved to temporary huts on The Square on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Some antiques traders criticised the district council this week, saying it had not advertised the new location prominently enough.
