Firefighters were called out to a sheltered accommodation block in Harborough yesterday after a person got trapped inside a lift.
A fire crew from the Harborough station attended Clover Court, off Hearth Street in town, at 1.39pm on Sunday.
The fire service were able to free the person, according to the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service daily report log. No details were given as to how long the person had been trapped inside.
Clover Court is one of the sheltered accommodation sites in the town that used to be run by Harborough District Council but was transferred to private landlord Seven Locks Housing in December 2007.
Sheltered housing, also known as retirement housing, means having your own flat or bungalow in a block, or on a small estate, where all the other residents are older people. With a few exceptions, all developments, or schemes, provide independent, self-contained homes with their own front doors but there is often a warden on site who helps run the estate.
