Firefighters were called out to deal with the incident in the district.

Fire bosses are warning people to take extra care when walking on boggy ground after a man got stuck waist-deep in mud on a Harborough building site over the weekend.

Four fire crews were called to the building site off Farndon Road on Saturday at 5.13pm after a passerby called 999 after hearing the stricken man’s screams.

The man, aged in his 30s, had been stuck for about half-an-hour before being spotted and fire crews battled for two hours to free him.

Fire chiefs say he was lucky to have been seen when he was as darkness was rapidly closing in.

The crews used specialist equipment to free the man, said the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service daily report log.
