Green fingered residents in Leicestershire can bag a cut price compost bin this week as part of a nationwide scheme to get more people composting.

To mark Compost Awareness Week 2014, the Leicestershire Waste Partnership is currently offering a number of home compost bins at a reduced rate – £12.98 for a 220 litre bin and £14.48 for a 330 litre one (Plus £5.99 delivery charge).

Blake Pain, Leicestershire County Council’s cabinet member for waste management, said: “Composting is so simple and can save you money on buying compost for your garden or allotment. All of your garden waste can easily be turned into a resource you can use to give your vegetables and flowers the best start.”

County residents can order a composting bin by visiting www.getcomposting.com or by calling 0844 5714444.

People can also buy one bin and get their second half price. However, the offer is limited to two subsidised bins per household.
