Talented young musicians from the Harborough district are being urged to enter the fifth annual Junior X Factor competition.
The 2014 talent contest was launched this week with heats scheduled for next month.
It is organised by the Great Bowden Recital Trust which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year
Trust chief executive Andrew Cartwright said: “We are delighted to launch the fifth annual competition for school Years 1 to 13, up to 18 years old.
“This is the largest and most established local competition and as this is trust’s 10th anniversary year, we are expecting it to be even larger than ever before.”
The heats are at Great Bowden Village Hall as follows: Years 10 to 13, Friday, March 14; Years 7 to 9, Saturday, March 15; Years 1 to 6, Sunday, March 16.
Entry and tickets to the final on Saturday, March 22, at Welland Park Academy in Harborough, are free.
Entrants must live within 15 miles of Harborough and the contest is open to singers or instrumentalists, individuals and groups.
Multiple entries in each category are allowed but not on the same instrument.
At the auditions, entrants perform one piece of up to four minutes in front of a panel of judges .
Each category champion wins £50 of vouchers from ABC Music, Harborough, with the overall winner earning an additional £100 in vouchers.
The most promising performer on an orchestral instrument wins finance for six months of music lessons funded by the recital trust.
