Bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts from across the East Midlands are gathering in Harborough next month to take part in a major fundraising event.
The Big Ride out, organised by the Leicester DeMontfort Rotary Club, will start in Harborough at midday on July 7.
Bikers will then travel via the Leicestershire loop to Melton Mowbray and finish at the Mallory Park racing circuit making a 70 mile route in total.
Running for the second year, the Big Ride Out is raising money for a range of local charities including Rainbows Children’s Hospice and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
Entrants are required to pay a £10 donation which goes towards the fundraising target of £3000. The donation includes free entry to Mallory Park, subject to completing the full ride. For more information, go to www.thebigrideout.blogspot.co.uk.
Andrew Robinson, partner at Leicestershire independent estate agency and chartered surveyors Andrew Granger & Co has helped to organise the event.
“The Big Ride Out was such a great success in 2012 that we decided to repeat it in 2013,” he said.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to raise money for some fantastic charities, whilst enabling the biking community to get together and have a good day out.”
With 98 bikes taking part last year, organisers hope to beat the 2012 total.
