The Lutterworth area is getting into the carnival spirit with two big events coming up in consecutive weekends.
This Saturday sees the annual Broughton Astley Carnival while the following weekend will be the turn of Lutterworth’s big community event.
The Broughton Astley event will be focused on family fun.
The afternoon will get undner way with a parade of floats through the village’s streets from midday until 1pm.
Spectators are being urged to walk along with the floats as the parade travels up to Thomas Estley Community College’s field off Station Road.
The school field will then host an array of stalls and entertainment including live bands, children’s productions and dance troupes.
And this year there will also be activities at nearby Broughton Astley Village Hall in Station Road throughout the afternoon.
Refreshments will be served at both venues, including tea, coffee, cakes, ice cream, a barbecue and the popular beer tent will take centre stage.
People can also try their hand at baking a Victoria sponge and enter the Broughton Bake-Off contest or pull together a team for the tug-of-war battle.
The event will also feature a fancy dress competition.
Julie Watson, from the carnival committee, said: “Get yourselves dressed up for the fancy dress – our theme Cartoon Capers gives plenty of scope or just come along for some good old family fun.”
The carnival is run by the Broughton Alive community group.
People can apply to the group for funds to help their local group.

Meanwhile, the stage is almost set for next Saturday’s annual Lutterworth Carnival.
The celebration run by the town council is one of the biggest events in Lutterworth’s calendar.
The floats parade is making a return this year after a two-year hiatus and the procession is due to include fire engines, classic cars, go-karts and a huge number of flag-waving people.
After the parade ends, the focus switches to the Coventry Road recreation ground where there will be numerous activities and entertainment including a fun fair, penalty shoot-out, donkey rides and Punch and Judy show.
