More than 140 parents and students attended the annual sports awards ceremony for Harborough’s Robert Smyth Academy’s PE department to celebrate another successful season.

It was held at the Wheel and Compass pub in Weston by Welland before the end of term.

The under 15 and under 16 netball teams remained unbeaten as they clinched titles, the football teams reached three county cup finals with the under 16s retaining their trophy, all the rugby teams reached a county final with the under 18s retaining a title, the athletics teams won three competitions including a regional group and the cricket teams made two county cup finals.

Head of PE Mike Scully said: “The achievements this season outline the depth and breadth of sporting talent and opportunity at Robert Smyth. Well done to all.”
