Leicestershire County Council has promised action after admitting two drains outside town centre shops were not working properly.
The authority said two drains outside Greenwoods and Halo in Harborough’s High Street are failing to operate as they should and that work will be carried out to fix the problem.
It follows the release of a video (available to view in the player above) taken by Halo owner Sharon Shannon a few days after the July 27 flood, which indicated the drains were blocked.
A county council spokesman said: “We are aware from our investigations following the flood incident that there is a footway gully that is not working outside Greenwood’s store, which appears to be the first of the two gullies that can be seen in the video.
“The second gully, that is taking water, appears to be slightly high and we are therefore intending to reconnect the first gully and drop the level of the second.
“This work will be carried out on an upcoming Sunday to minimise disruption to local businesses and pedestrians.”
