Zambia beckons for village school head

Ruby Camplejohn, 7, Raimie Annandale, 4, Brodie Reynolds, 10, James Bradshaw, 8, headteacher Angela Dewes, Max Taylor, 10, Luke Weightman, 6 and Oscar Tebbatt, 5, from South Kilworth Primary School, the school has been awarded an International Schools prize and Angela Dewes is going to visit Zambia.

A PRIMARY school has been an awarded a prestigious award in recognition of its attempts to bring the world into the classroom.

The International School Award has been presented to South Kilworth Primary School and is regarded as a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas.

South Kilworth School’s international work includes partnering with a school in Zambia, including a planned exchange visit to Zambia by head teacher Angela Dewes in the near future, finding out about the world through an Olympic themed topic, celebrating festivals from around the world, participating in Indian dance and learning French and finding out about French culture.

Mrs Dewes said: “The pupils and staff are proud and delighted that their excellent International work has been recognised through this award.”
