Village school closure is confirmed

Braybrooke Primary School

Braybrooke Primary School

A village school will be closed due to dwindling pupil numbers, it has been confirmed today (Tuesday).

Northamptonshire County Council announced in January plans to shut Braybrooke Primary School on August 31, saying it was no longer financially viable.

The final decision was subject to a consultation period.

And councillors voted in favour of the closure at a meeting of the council’s cabinet, held this afternoon.

The school’s 22 pupils - the majority of them from the traveller community - will now start the September term at other schools including Havelock Infants and Junior Schools in Desborough, Loatlands Primary in Desborough and Clipston Primary School.

Ofsted inspectors ranked the school as good during an inspection last year but warned attendance among pupils was poor.
