Tribute...Husbands Bosworth bellringers pay tribute to the Olympics
A TRIBUTE was paid to those involved in the Olympics through a 45 minute bell ringing session at All Saints’ Church in Husbands Bosworth.
The bell ringing team at Husbands Bosworth, combined with two regular bell ringers from Badby and Welford, there to replace two missing members, played tribute to the Olympians, the Paralympians and the creators, organisers and helpers of London 2012.
Involved in the bell ringing was Helen Armitage, Kelvin Broad, Mike Price, Janet Armitage, Rev Michael Haighton and Geoff Armitage.
The tribute took place last Tuesday at the church in Husbands Bosworth where the bell ringing team rang a quarter-peal of Plain Bob Doubles which was conducted by Mr Armitage.
A celebration of the start of the Olympic Games was held by St Dionysius Church in Harborough in July.
Bells from the church helped signal the start of the Olympics along with hundreds of other churches across the country.
Bellringers played Martin Creed’s Work No. 1197 project All the Bells to herald the start of the Olympic Games.
The chiming commenced as Chris Evans concluded the countdown on Radio 2 and signalled to the rest of the country to start ringing.
