Tribute cricket match in memory of Alan

A CRICKET match is being hosted in memory of the former landlord of a Walcote pub who died in June.

Alan Swalwell was landlord of the Tavern Inn in the village.

A match has been organised by Walcote Cricket Club and is being held at Lutterworth Cricket Club, in Coventry Road, this Sunday at 1pm, although people will be arriving at the club from 12.15pm.

Money raised at the event is being donated to a number of good causes, including children’s sporting activities which organisers say Alan would have supported.

Kate Green, one of the organisers, said: “Please come along and help us to remember Alan.

“You can bring your own picnic and the club bar will be open. A bouncy castle, weather permitting, will be on site for the younger ones.

“If you are not around but would like to make a contribution please call in at the Tavern Inn, in Lutterworth Road, or phone Tony Watson on 01455 554615.

“Walcote Cricket Club would like to thank everyone in advance for their support.”
