Train strikes called off by Aslef union

TRAIN users in Harborough have been saved from disruption to services after the Aslef union called off its planned strike action.

The strikes had been due to go ahead on East Midlands Trains services on Saturday and Monday.

Aslef announced yesterday (Wednesday) that the industrial action had been called off.

The union said constructive talks had been held with the company that will hopefully lead to a satisfactory conclusion to the long-running row over pensions.

East Midlands Trains had pledged to continue running services for passengers despite the strike. For service information go to www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk.
