THE AMBITIOUS artwork which will greet visitors to Lutterworth can finally be revealed.
The four stone horses, which will adorn the Regent Court embankment in Rugby Road, are to be created by artist Graeme Mitcheson and should be unveiled later this year.

Mr Mitcheson was one of a group of artists who submitted designs, and impressed a panel of judges from Lutterworth Town Council when he submitted the idea for ‘land art’ rather than a sculpture, which he said would not suit the embankment.
The four gravel white horses, walking towards Lutterworth town centre, are meant to commemorate the town’s history as a coaching stop.
The artwork is expected to cost about £17,000.
Lutterworth town clerk Hannah Surtees said: “The project is deemed a ‘gateway feature’ for the town.
“The artist was also very mindful of not repeating the existing associations with Sir Frank Whittle and John Wycliffe and has come up with a design that focuses upon Lutterworth’s prominent coaching history.”
Mr Mitcheson, who is from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, has been visiting schools to hold stone carving sessions with pupils and on Wednesday, May 30, he will be at a presentation evening at Lutterworth College between 7.30 and 9pm where he will have examples of the design.
Mrs Surtees added: “Lutterworth Town Council has wanted to improve the aesthetics of Regent Court embankment for close to a decade and has enjoyed working in conjunction with Leicestershire County Council over the last 12 months to plant additional trees and shrubs to become a step closer to this final aim.
“The embankment was previously overgrown with weeds.”
