Topless at the carwash .....and that was just the men!
TOPLESS men and women in hot pants took part in a fundraising car wash day in aid of a cancer charity.
Barbara North, of Great Glen, organised the event as part of her fundraising for a Hope Against Cancer cycle trip, which she has just completed in memory of her mum.
More than 85 cars were washed by 12 volunteers outside Great Glen Post Office in Stretton Road.
Mrs North had to raise more than 500 to take part in the Hope Against Cancer Coast to Coast Challenge and around 450 came from the event.
The mum-of-four, who went on the five day trip from Biarritz to Narbonne in the south of France from September 5, said: “We had an excellent day doing the car wash. If it wasn’t for the post office staff it wouldn’t have happened. They gave up their Sunday to help out and serve cream teas and cakes. We didn’t have any quiet moments and we were all shattered at the end of the day.”
The charity ride, for which Mrs North raised around 2,500, was her third trip since her mum, Shirley Grocock, of Oadby, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2004. She died in November 2005.
Mrs North has also taken part in charity rides in Scotland and from Leicester to Paris.
In all, the ride raised 90,000 to help fund research at the University of Leicester for a cure for the disease.
